Signing off as a naive..

Where am supposed to be packing for the so called "fun trip"...not! I was thinking of something I said to my sister yesterday:

"Friends come and go like a season. People change, life changes...but there're things that will never change. Shoulders you'll always come back to cry on"
Go girl, hit and kick backs! (A)

Anyways, show is over.

Good night kids and see you all next week...I know you will miss me not :p! But what the heck, I'll miss you too!!

Stories That Touched My Heart - Part II

[Standing on the hill, he used to always ask us to close our eyes and imagine things that would bring happiness to our souls, he made sure we see the same place every time with a new eye.

"Who knows, it might be the last time you be up here, on this same exact spot!". He got it right, it was his last time. RIP Uncle..]

Stories That Touched My Heart

Over the past few weeks I have encountered some incidents/heard of couple of stories that have truly touched my heart in many ways.

. The other day I was parking my car by the supermarket where an old man with a dirty and messed up dishdasha approached me. He greeted me and then asked me if he can wash my car. I greeted him back and nodded my head as a sign of agreement. I returned to my car and found him done cleaning and he was washing for prayers. I gave him his money, he beamed and headed over to where he left his bucket and stuff, and he waved at me and then lifted his hands up in prayer. He’s probably in his sixties. I couldn’t help it; my eyes tore up. I totally admire his self-respect, and the fact that he’s working to earn money instead of begging like many young healthy people do.

. My younger sister is currently doing a clinical Pediatrics rotation (clinical clerkship). The other day they received a 2-weeks old baby who was found near a public school in Muscat. They did full check-up, he was in a good health, thanks god, and he was named AbdulRahman.
Before their on-call shift ended, they passed by the ward the baby was in, and they saw the baby staring at the TV in total stillness, a live broadcasting of Isha prayers from Mecca was on. They cried. Everyone did.

To be continued.

Faith in Wonderland

I had a very lovely dream yesterday night - I think am still under the effect of Alice in Wonderland movie recently produced by Diseny. So, I was wearing a black dress and following a rabbit, and ended up in a forest full of electric blue butterflies, they covered my dress [I still can't get over the dress]

1. This is the cover of the original book:

2. Alice is widely assumed to be based on the daughter of a family friend of the author, Lewis Carrol. This is the real Alice:

3. Lewis Carroll was suffering from constant migraine attacks [reminds you of someone? :p]. A syndrome called "Alice in wonderland syndrome" was names after him. This syndrome causes certain hallucinations associated to migraine. He had used his own migraine experiences as a source of inspiration for his two books Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (1865) and its sequel, Through the Looking Glass (1871).

This is Caroll:

4. One of the funniest parts of the story is The Mad Tea Party. I have been using the term "unbirthday" as a joke...I think we really need to celebrate every UNBIRTHDAY in our life :p. From Wikipedia

An unbirthday (originally written un-birthday) is an event that can be celebrated on any day that is not the person's birthday. It is a neologism coined by Lewis Carroll, giving rise to "The Unbirthday Song" in the 1951.

The Unbirthday Song:

A very merry unbirthday
To me
To who?
To me
Oh, you

Let's all congratulate us with another cup of tea
A very merry unbirthday to me

Now blow the candle out, my dear
And make your wish come true
A very merry unbirthday to youuuu!!

Last but not least, a very merry Unbirthday to you dear me and dear readers.
Till next time!

[Music] Hold My Hand~

This is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard in my life!

Hold My Hand by Maher Zain

Lyrics:
I hear the flower’s kinda crying loud
The breeze’s sound in sad
Oh no
Tell me when did we become,
So cold and empty inside
Lost a way long time ago
Did we really turn out blind
We don’t see that we keep hurting each other no
All we do is just fight

Now we share the same bright sun,
The same round moon
Why don’t we share the same love
Tell me why not
Life is shorter than most have thought

Hold my hand
There are many ways to do it right
Hold my hand
Turn around and see what we have left behind
Hold my hand my friend
We can save the good spirit of me and you
For another chance
And let’s pray for a beautiful world
A beautiful world I share with you

Children seem like they’ve lost their smile
On the new blooded playgrounds
Oh no
How could we ignore , heartbreaking crying sounds
And we’re still going on
Like nobody really cares
And we just stopped feeling all the pain because
Like it’s a daily basic affair

Now we share the same bright sun,
The same round moon
Why don’t we share the same love
Tell me why not
Life is shorter than most have thought

Hold my hand
There are many ways to do it right
Hold my hand
Turn around and see what we have left behind
Hold my hand my friend
We can save the good spirit of me and you
For another chance
And let’s pray for a beautiful world
A beautiful world I share with you

No matter how far I might be
I’m always gonne be your neighbor
There’s only one small planet where to be
So I’m always gonna be your neighbor
We cannot hide, we can’t deny
That we’re always gonna be neighbors
You’re neighbor, my neighbor
We’re neighbors

So hold my hand
There are many ways to do it right
Hold my hand
Turn around and see what have left behind

So hold my hand
There are many ways to do it right
Hold my hand
Turn around and see what have left behind
Hold my hand my friend
We can save the good spirit of me and you
For another chance
And let’s pray for a beautiful world
A beautiful world I share with you

Random update

* First of all I’d like to congratulate Nadia for her successful post about [Discrimination Against Women in Dhofar & Oman]. I even started getting forward emails with a direct link to her blog! Isn’t this just awesome? Keep the great job always up, Nadia.

* I was doing grocery shopping the other day at Sultan Center and stumbled upon the following books on one of the bookshelves next to the last cashier counter. I think it’s quite interesting to see know that there are people who are actually eager to learn Arabic, and more to realize that there are such books sold for this purpose. [I know this might sound so random!]
* Now reading: Three Cups of Tea. I'm loving the book so far. Will share my personal review about the book once am done reading it.

Till next time, dear me & drear readers :)

Today's Story

After few quiet days at work, where I was just trying to close some old pending tasks here and there, getting myself busy with organizing the tens of files in my desktop, socializing, engaging in work related discussions, offering my help to some new staff and so on…

but now!!

...things are back to their nature in terms of work, and again, I'd like to highlight that am SO thankful I have something to keep me busy and that I actually like, الحمدلله

-------------------------

Today's story:

One of my old friends - rather colleague actually- in high school grew up with a golden spoon in her mouth. She comes from a family of privilege and wealth - mashallah. A new girl has recently joined my company who was in the same class as her. I asked her how she was doing and she told me that the girl has been sitting at home for the past 5 years. She's not even enrolled in university/college whatsoever. She became hideously obese; almost four times the size she used to be in high school [as per her description], given that she was a pretty big girl back in high school days. All she does is sit on her lazy couch watching TV or gossiping on phone with her few friends who share the same interests in life with her.

It’s sad. I felt really awful for her.

The new girl told me that she tried to talk to her a few times and she didn't pick up. And btw, her family thinks she goes to college. Although I don't know what major doesn’t require the person to attend lectures/classes!

I hope she gets out of the rut she’s in [and I truly hate that there’s nothing I can do for her].
